Héloise de Villefort

Mother of Édouard de Villefort and second wife of Gérard de Villefort. After learning that her step-daughter Valentine de Villefort will recieve the entire fortune of her grand-parents (Marquis and Marquise de Saint-Méran), she becomes extremely jealous. Prefering that the fortune be left for her son Édouard, she poisons the Marquis and Marquise de Saint-Méran with brucine and attempts to poison her step-father Noirtier de Villefort and Valentine.

Upon discovering his wife's heinous crimes, Monsieur de Villefort demands that his wife commit suicide or else face public execution. Héloise poisons herself and her son Édouard.
