Monsieur Morrel
Father of Maximilien Morrel and Julie Morrel. Shipowner of the Pharaon and owner of the firm Morrel and Son. He cares for Edmond Dantès' father Louis Dantès after Edmond is imprisoned at the Château d'If. Later, when the Pharaon sinks and his firm is on the brink of financial ruin, Sinbad the Sailor gives Julie a letter telling her to pick up a red silk purse in Louis Dantès' room. The purse contained the funds needed to pay off M. Morrel's debt, saving him from suicide.
