Noirtier de Villefort
Father of Gérard de Villefort and one of France's leading Bonapartists. His opposing political view was a source of conflict between him and his son. The letter addressed to him that Edmond Dantès carried led to Edmond's arrest.
Later, he became paralyzed from the neck down. He was only able to communicate with his eyes. He vehemently opposed of his grandaughter Valentine's marriage to Baron Franz d'Épinay. It was revealed that Noirtier murdered Franz's royalist father during a duel following a Bonapartist meeting.
